Dilute your pain; take it from the recesses of your brain, make it tangible.

optic nerve

I dream of wide

brown eyes

white framing a

life

as calmness tints

the whites

red

Supple and deep

Soft, like leather

which covers up

goosebumps

on frigid skin

or

kissing my pages

as the binding

of a blank

notebook

My eyes seem almost

green

in some

sweaters

Let me dig

past your flecks

to push my

roots

and grow.

Manicure

She painted her nails with

blood and whipped cream

light pink

sticky

sweet

Dirty bed sheets with stains

from food and sex

the color building

up

dead skin gathering in

human-shaped prints

shadows laying

quietly beneath us

waiting

for us to

free them

Red

Roses, freshly chewed

his beard

bitten lips

new bruises, unturned

blood on the floor

cheeks, how pale

so pale

white
